| Protect your PC from threats When you have hundreds of GBs of data in your PC, there is an unavoidable need to secure it. Thousands of viruses, trojans, spyware etc come up everyday which can use your computer more than you do. Here you can find some general tips which will make your PC less vulnerable to security threats. There are some basic things that you need to have, if you want your operating system and hardware to run for a long time: 1. Make sure that you have Automatic updates turned on. You get a lot of security updates and patches released often and not having these updates installed will make your PC vulnerable to external attacks. 2. Have your firewall turned on and never go online without a firewall! If needed, purchase and use a third party firewall which will be more powerful then default windows firewall. |
| 3. Purchase and use a good anti virus software like Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro etc. Windows doesn't have an anti virus software built in. Make sure your anti virus software also includes spy ware protections, incoming and outgoing mail scanning, browser control and alert for major system changes. 4. Use a good browser. Either upgrade your internet explorer to the latest version or use Mozilla Firefox for the better security. Make sure you have pop blocker turned on in your browser. For best results, download and install Google tool bar, which will block pop ups effectively. |
